We were waiting with bated breath to see whether or not the Empire season finale could top last week’s episode. Well, it managed to do it. Empire averaged a 6.5 rating in the 18-49 adult demo with 16.7 million viewers overall, including a 6.9 rating in the adult demo with 17.6 million in its regular 9:00 slot. This season had the highest season ratings since Grey’s Anatomy. Its 6.8 rating blew every other show this season out of the water. It’s crazy how in just a couple of months, Empire managed to almost double its viewership. Empire also blew up Twitter and Facebook, garnering 2.5 million tweets, and 15.8 million likes/comments/shares. Now we just have to wait until season two. Until then the soundtrack can keep you satiated, which was Number One on the Billboard 200, beating out Madonna.
