Fences is based on the play of the same name by August Wilson, also starring Denzel Washington and Viola Davis in Tony Award-winning roles. It follows a Black family trying to navigate race relations in the 1950s. The film version looks to be just as good. Tonight’s the night. The anticipated series Underground premieres tonight. The series about the Underground Railroad stars a talented cast. It was also co-created by a Black woman and produced by John Legend.

Synopsis:

Underground centers on a group of slaves planning a daring 600-mile escape from a Georgia plantation. Along the way, they are aided by a secret abolitionist couple running a station on the Underground Railroad as they attempt to evade the people charged with bringing them back, dead or alive.

I came across the clip found below and just had to share. Waiting to Exhale is a 1995 film starring Whitney Houston, Angela Bassett, Loretta Devine, and Lela Rochon. It was adapted from the Terry McMillan novel of the same name. It explores the friendship between four Black women as they navigate their own relationships and lives.
