I’m white and Iris West is one of my favorite characters. I never once batted my eyes at the fact they chose her to be black. Besides, Barry, her and Joe are my favorite characters. Candice Patton is gorgeous and a terrific actress. I see her as an independant woman who is a great role model for girls. I’m totally team Barry/Iris, I can’t wait!

Man this old article keeps getting hits. The use of the character and writing for her has improved greatly since season one, where they made the character unlikeable.

No. Both of those characters appeared to have some promise on their initial appearance but were quickly written into a dead end of TV romance cliches-besides being defined by being Barry’s squeezes they were also, very obviously, never more than Iris-alternatives.
On the brighter side of things the Barry-Iris angle has been downplayed immensely in Season 2 and she’s been far less irritating as a result (though sadly there still isn’t much positive to be said).

I’m genuinely sorry if the actress who plays Iris is getting hatred, but I agree, the character is *terrible*. In much the same way that Dawn in “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” (another much-fan-hated character): “Everyone keeps focusing on all these people who are dying and things that threaten to end the world; why won’t they just put everything aside and pay attention to MEEEEEE?!”

I just can’t stand her showing up in EVERY scene. Doesn’t she have a job? Shouldn’t she be at work and not at the police station? Star labs? Coffee shop? Anywhere anyone else is speaking? She is annoying and does nothing for the show at all.

Gorgeous biracial woman, great actor, smart, fierce, graduated at the top of her class. Beautiful tan, sexy lips, intense eyes, smile that melts, long thick mane, a fabulous botang, more muscle than fat, and girl don’t crack. Yeah I know the envy is real. I love her on the Flash. Patty and Caitlin pale in comparison. No pun intended.

It’s not the actress who plays her. I just think her story line was just plain boring. Thanks to my Roku box. I can now fast forwarding all her scenes in every frames she’s in and it makes no difference to the story line. I’m so sick of these love triangle, Didn’t they do that in Arrow already ?
