‘Vixen’ Episode One

The first episode of the web series, Vixen, is finally here. It’s only four minutes, but there’s a lot packed into it. Vixen runs into The Flash and The Arrow. Watch below and tell us what you think. Megalyn Echikunwoke stars as Mari McCabe AKA Vixen.

‘Vixen’ Trailer

Ever since it was announced that the superhero Vixen would be getting her own animated series, we’ve been waiting in anticipation. Now, we’ve got a trailer to whet our appetites.

Megalyn Echikunwoke voices Vixen, whose real name is Mari McCabe and can exhibit the traits of animals. Vixen will be airing on CW Seed, The CW’s online channel, with six episodes. Hopefully this is just a test run, and we’ll get a live action series soon.

Synopsis:

Originally from Africa, Mari McCabe’s parents were killed by local greed, corruption, and wanton violence. But the orphaned Mari refuses to succumb to the terrors surrounding her.

Inheriting her family’s Tantu Totem, Mari can access the powers of animals – anything from the super-strength of a gorilla to the speed of a cheetah. As Vixen, she fights valiantly to protect the world from threats like those that claimed her family.

Vixen premieres August 25 on CW Seed.

‘Vixen’ to Join DC Television Universe

The CW announced at the Television Critics Association that they would be developing an animated series centering around Vixen for their online network, CW Seed. Vixen is an African superhero with the power to mimic the ability of animals, which is actually cooler than it sounds.

If Vixen is successful online, it could lead to her making appearances in the live action medium and even having her own live action series. More importantly, it gives Black girls a chance to see another superhero who looks like them. I can’t wait to see who they get to voice her.
