Tonight’s the night. The anticipated series Underground premieres tonight. The series about the Underground Railroad stars a talented cast. It was also co-created by a Black woman and produced by John Legend.

Synopsis:

Underground centers on a group of slaves planning a daring 600-mile escape from a Georgia plantation. Along the way, they are aided by a secret abolitionist couple running a station on the Underground Railroad as they attempt to evade the people charged with bringing them back, dead or alive.

Harriet Tubman is one of the most well-known Black leaders in history, freeing countless slaves via the Underground Railroad. So, it’s on fitting that she’s getting three biopics. One in particular is an HBO biopic starring Viola Davis. I have 100% faith that she will kill this role. She will also serve as a producer. The biopic is based on Kate Clifford Larson’s Bound for the Promise Land. The other two biopics in the works are the WGN drama Underground and the NBC production Freedom Run, produced by Stevie Wonder.
