Football season is upon us, and no season is truly complete without a football film being released. Concussion is the latest film to shine a light into the complex, entertaining, and at times dangerous world of the sport. Billed as a film that will have the NFL on edge, Concussion explores the dark side of football, where injuries can have lasting effects.

Synopsis:

Will Smith stars in Concussion, a dramatic thriller based on the incredible true David vs. Goliath story of American immigrant Dr. Bennet Omalu, the brilliant forensic neuropathologist who made the first discovery of CTE, a football-related brain trauma, in a pro player and fought for the truth to be known. Omalu’s emotional quest puts him at dangerous odds with one of the most powerful institutions in the world.

Beyond the Lights

Beyond the Lights was one of the most underrated films of 2014. It went mostly went under the radar due to poor marketing, but it was a critical success. It shows how love can be life saving, even if people do not approve of it.

Synopsis:

The pressures of fame have superstar singer Noni on the edge, until she meets Kaz, a young cop who works to help her find the courage to develop her own voice and break free to become the artist she was meant to be.
